Practice Philosophy:

My approach is Cognitive Therapy.  I am most impressed with and use the techniques developed by David Burns who has developed a more powerful form of Cognitive Therapy..  It is a very effective structured approach that gives you concrete tools to change the way you handle situations and the way you feel.  It is designed to teach a set of skills to relieve symptoms and to cope better.  So often that which feels like an insoluble problem changes when you learn how to see it differently.  The result is that you feel better in a short time..

I provide treatment for anxiety including social anxiety, obsessive compulsive disorder, generalized anxiety disorder, hypochondria,  post traumatic stress disorder, body dysmorphic disorder, and  phobias, including agoraphobia, claustrophobia, and acrophobia.  I also treat mood and depressive disorders, including bi-polar disorder, depression, dysthymia, and seasonal affective disorder.  I work with couples to help relationships thrive.  I also treat procrastination and stress disorders.

My approach is focused, goal directed and helps you learn specific skills you can use right away to change the ways you feel bad.  I don’t just listen.  I teach you how to feel better.
